Stunning original concert piece created to accompany the improv stylings of a piano-playing cat.
Maestro Piecaitis wrote an entire CATcerto, a symphony to accompany the piano playings of Nora the Cat. According to one music expert, the cat has a sense of “tonal centre,” that’s significantly more than just “banging on a piano” as it shows that Nora the cat is cognizant of what she is doing.
The composer did do a great job of harmonizing it and arranging the motifs into an order that makes sense but Nora deserves just as much credit. The harmonizing is arguably the easy part… It’s the creation of a motif that takes talent over skill.
Our favorite part was when Nora the cat plays that nice phrase and the flutes echo her right after that. Then on the second time, the oboe/clarinet comes along as well.
