This horse is a stallion. Stallions sometimes have a lonely life. His owners placed a reflective surface in his stall, so he would have some companionship from “another” horse. Stallions are often dangerous, and it is difficult to keep them confined in outdoor spaces when other horses are nearby. They still get their turnout time, but usually in a secluded area away from other horses.
The mirror gives them a sense of being near another horse to keep him company.
